Three student-athletes from Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) women's track and field/cross country programs were named to 2021 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® Teams.  All three student-athletes will advance to the national ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-America®.

The 2020-21 Academic All-District® Women’s Track & Field / Cross Country Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in the competition realm and in the classroom.  First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-August

Those selected to the All-District® 6 Team include Calvin's Annie Needs and Hope's Hannah Kenny.  Valerie Obear represents Trine on the All-District® 7 Team.

Needs graduated from Calvin with a Chemical Engineering degree and a cumulative grade point average of 3.95.  The Knight notched a victory in the 3000m steeplechase at the 2021 MIAA Outdoor Championships prior to earning All-American status with her sixth-place finish at the NCAA DIII Championships.

Kenny, a Spanish and Social Work double major, graduated from Hope with a GPA of 3.95.  She assisted the Flying Dutch to both the indoor and the outdoor championship titles after finishing first in both 4x400m relays.  Kenny has been named to the MIAA Honor Roll for four-consecutive years.

Forensic Science major Obear boasts at GPA of 3.92 at the end of her junior year.  Obear notched a victory in the weight throw at the MIAA Indoor Championships and finished first in both the discus throw and the hammer throw at the league's outdoor meet.  She earned All-American status after a third-place finish in the hammer throw at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

CoSIDA's NCAA Division III District 6 includes Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, and District 7 includes Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio.  Members of CoSIDA from the district vote on Academic All-District® honors.  Student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 GPA on a 4.0 scale and must have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution to be eligible.
