Trine's Eck, Calvin's Diekema and Dyksen All-Americans at 2018 NCAA Women's Track and Field Championships

Two fourth-place finishes were included in three All-American performances by MIAA student-athletes at the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships May 24-26 at the Veteran’s Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Trine's Kara Eck capped her roller coaster senior season with a fourth-place finish in the hammer, throwing for 56.60m on her first finals attempt for All-America honors for the fifth time of her collegiate career. The six-time MIAA Most Outstanding Field Athlete was recently named a finalist for the Honda Insipration Award after coming back from a brain infection during the 2017-18 indoor season.

Calvin's Katie Diekema notched a time of 4:35.88 in the prelims of the 1,500m run, ranking third-best overall during the Thursday qualifying session. On Saturday, Diekema then crossed the line in 4:29.60 for a fourth-place finish, a personal PR, and All-America accolades.

Also earning All-America honors was Calvin's Jenna Dyksen in the 100m hurdles. Dyksen advanced to the Saturday final with a time of 14.62 in the Friday prelims, good for sixth overall. Dyksen then followed up with a time of 14.37 in the championship to finish seventh overall after being seeded 15th entering the championships.

With their All-American performances, Calvin finished T-41st as a team with seven points, while Trine was T-48th with five points.
