The Hope College women's tennis team is headed to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for the 2022 NCAA Division III Championships.
The MIAA regular-season and tournament champions are headed to the Carnegie Mellon University regional this week.
The 40th-ranked Flying Dutch (18-7 overall) will play Cairn University (Penn.) in the first round on Thursday, May 12, at 9 a.m. Carin (20-1) is the Colonial States Athletic Conference champion.
The Hope-Cairn winner will advance to face 11th-ranked Carnegie Mellon in the second round on Friday, May 13, at 9 a.m.
Also, on Thursday, Franciscan University (Ohio) will face North Central College (Ill.) in a first-round match at noon. The winner will meet No. 4 Middlebury College (Conn) in the second round on Friday at noon.
On Saturday, May 14, the regional final will be held at noon.
The regional champion advances to the eight-team national championships on Monday-Wednesday, May 23-25, at the United States Tennis Association National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
The Flying Dutch qualified for nationals by winning the MIAA Tournament for a league record 10th consecutive time last week with 5-0 victories against fourth-seeded Saint Mary's College during the semifinals and second-seeded Kalamazoo College during the final.
This is Hope's 12th trip to the regional round and 16th NCAA Championships appearance.
