Four MIAA wrestlers qualify for NCAA Championships

MIAA - Two wrestlers from both Alma and Adrian will represent the MIAA at the upcoming 2020 NCAA Wrestling Championships held at Cedar Springs, Iowa March 13-14, 2020.

Alma qualifiers

Senior Brandon Ladd (32-3) also punched his ticket to nationals for the Scots, following his third-place finish at the NCAA Central Regional in the 141-pound weight class. Ladd is seeking his third-straight All-American accolade.

Senior Zachary Cooper (36-3) qualified following a second-place finish at the NCAA Central Regional. He will wrestle in the 149-pound weight class. He has tied Alma’s single-season record for wins this season. In 2019 Cooper placed 5th at the National Championship where he earned All-American honors.

 

Adrian qualifiers

Junior Devon Pingel qualified for nationals in the 187-pound weight class, after a third-place finish at the NCAA Central Regional. Pingel is an All-MIAA recipient who hopes to earn All-American honors as a first-year transfer student-athlete for the Bulldogs.

Sophomore Isaiah Espinoza also qualified for nationals for the bulldogs, finishing third in the 285-pounds weight class at the NCAA Central Regional. Espinoza came to Adrian as a transfer student and earned All-MIAA and hopes to earn All-American honors at the NCAA National Championship.
