Hope and Trine to Serve as First-Round Hosts of NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship

For the 15th time since the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) began sponsoring women's basketball in 1985, two teams will represent the MIAA in the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship.

Hope College (26-1), the 2022 regular-season co-champion and the 2022 MIAA Tournament champion, will host La Roche (20-5) in its championship opener on March 4.  Marietta (21-5) and Wittenberg (18-7) will also be hosted by the Flying Dutch as part of the four-team pod.  This is Hope's 14th trip to the NCAA postseason in the last 15 seasons, excluding the 2021 NCAA Championships which were cancelled due to COVID-19.

Trine University (24-3), the 2022 MIAA co-champion, will also serve as a host for the First Round of the NCAA Tournament after receiving an at-large berth into the competition.  The Thunder will play Immaculata (18-8) in the opening game.  John Carroll (22-4) and Elizabethtown (20-5) will also be hosted in Angola, Indiana.  This is Trine's fourth-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.  

Sixteen first/second-round sites will be conducted March 4-5.  Second-round winners will advance to one of four sectional sites March 11-12.  The semifinals will be held on March 17, followed by the final on March 19.  All games, except the semifinals and final, will be played on the campuses of competing institutions.  The semifinals and final will be hosted by SportsPITTSBURGH and the Presidents' Athletic Conference the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse in Pittsburgh, Pa.
