Hope women's basketball players Kenedy Schoonveld and Olivia Voskuil were announced as selections to the 2021 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® Division III Women's Basketball Team.
The 2020-21 Academic All-District® Women’s Basketball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
With their Academic All-District® accolades, the seniors will be eligible for CoSIDA Division III Academic All-America® honors, announced in late May.
A social work major and Spanish minor, Schoonveld has a grade point average of 3.84. Over her collegiate career, Schoonveld has become a three-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll honoree (2018-20), a four-time First Team All-MIAA player (2018-21), a two-time MIAA Most Valuable Player (2020-21), a two-time WBCA First-Team All-American (2020-21), a two-time D3hoops.com Co-Great Lakes Regional Player of the Year (2020-21), a two time D3hoops.com All-American (2020-21), and the 2018 D3hoops.com Co-Great Lakes Rookie of the Year.
On the court this season, Schoonveld concluded conference play with a .521 field goal percentage, 15 assists, and started all seven league contests.
Voskuil, a civil engineering major, boasts a grade point average of 3.96. In her four years with the Flying Dutch, Voskuil has become a three-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll honoree (2018-20), a three-time MIAA Defensive Player of the Year (2019-21), a three-time All-MIAA player (2019-21), a two-time WBCA All-American (2020-21), and a two-time D3hoops.com Great Lakes Region First Team honoree (2020-21).
This year on the court, Voskuil finish league play first in steals (16) and led the Flying Dutch in rebounds (7.4 RPG), steals (2.3 SPG), and blocks (1.1 BPG).
CoSIDA's NCAA Division III District 6 includes Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Members of CoSIDA from the district vote on Academic All-District® honors. Student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 GPA on a 4.0 scale and must have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution to be eligible.
