Around the MIAA 

Adrian (8-13, 2-10)

Adrian went 1-1 at home with a 65-58 win versus Kalamazoo and a 96-28 loss to No. 2-ranked Hope…against the Hornets, junior Rachel Bucher poured in a career-best 19 points to lead all scorers, and classmate Sha'Trice Graves added game highs of 16 rebounds and four blocked shots… Graves continues to pace the MIAA in rebounding with a 10.3 average…she also ranks second in the league with 48 blocked shots to give her 152 in her career, which is two shy of breaking the school’s all-time record…Graves also has 528 career rebounds to tie Antoinea McElroy (2012-16) for fifth all-time…midseason addition Chelsea Palmer tops Adrian’s scoring listings with a 10.1 average over 11 contests…Adrian plays at Olivet on Wednesday and at Trine on Saturday.


NR/RV Albion (18-4, 10-3)

Albion tallied their 10th win in MIAA play Feb 8 with an 80-47 victory over Kalamazoo. Elena Welker led all scorers with 14 points as four players scored in double figures. Aiding in the win was a 23-9 turnover margin, which resulted in Albion posting a 27-2 edge in points off turnovers.


Alma (10-12, 5-8)

The Scots defeated Saint Mary's 59-50 Feb. 8. Stasha Warchock (Marquette, Mich.) led all players with 21 points along with five made three-pointers; Warchock had 11 points in the third quarter alone. Jeny Brandt (Escanaba, Mich.) cleaned up with 12 points and 13 rebounds, for a fifth double-double of the year, along with two blocks. Hannah Thelen (Pewamo, Mich.) had seven points, six rebounds, two assists and three steals.


Calvin (14-8, 8-5)

Calvin women’s basketball went 2-0 this past week with wins over Saint Mary’s and Olivet. The Knights defeated Saint Mary’s with a score of 57-51 and took down Olivet with a score of 92-55. Sophomore Gabby Timmer put up some great numbers this week with a total of 40 points and 15 rebounds with 25 points coming against Saint Mary’s. 


No. 2/2 Hope (21-0, 12-0)

Guard Meg Morehouse scored a career-high 16 points to lead the No. 2-ranked Hope College women's basketball team to a 96-28 victory at Adrian Saturday. Hope remains one of two unbeaten teams in NCAA Division III. Other Hope players scoring in double digits were junior guard Lauren Newman with 13 points, junior guard Kenedy Schoonveld with 12, and freshman guard Claire Baguley with 11.


Kalamazoo (4-17, 2-10)

Olivet (4-18, 1-12)

Olivet lost two MIAA games last week, dropping a 78-63 game to Albion College and 92-55 game at Calvin University. Against Albion, all five starters scored in double figures. Senior Tammy Lee led the way with a season-high 17 points. Junior DeeDee Post had 13 points. Senior Amari Brown and freshman Hannah Brown each had 11 points. Freshman Zara Weber scored 10 points. Against Calvin, junior Fayth Talbert scored a game-high 17 points.


Saint Mary's (8-13, 5-7)

The Belles had a pair of single-digit setbacks last week against Calvin and Alma. Giavanna Paradiso led the Belles with 20 points and nine rebounds against the Knights, and Maddie Rzepka added nine points and eight rebounds with a pair of blocked shots. Jade Mosier had her second double-double of the season with 12 points and a team-best 10 rebounds at Alma. Paradiso chipped in 12 points for the Belles.


NR/RV Trine (17-4, 11-1)

Won only matchup of the week against Alma...Tara Bieniewicz scored 17 points and shot 54.5 percent (6-of-11) and added three assists and four steals.
