Trine, Hope to Represent MIAA in NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship

For the third consecutive season and fifth time in seven years, and the 14th time since the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association began sponsoring women's basketball in 1985, two teams will represent the MIAA in the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship.

Trine (25-2), the MIAA regular season and tournament champion, will face Emory in the First Round in a neutral site contest, with the winner facing either host Thomas More or Saint Vincent (Pa.). The NCAA Championship berth is the third consecutive for Trine; the Thunder are 3-2 all-time in the NCAA Championship.

Hope, receiving an at-large berth after a 23-4 regular season - where all four losses were to nationally-ranked teams - will take on Wheaton in the First Round in a neutral site game. Also in the four-team pod with Hope and Wheaton are host Wartburg and Bethany Lutheran. This year marks the seventh consecutive trip to the NCAA postseason for Hope, and 13th in the last 14 seasons.

Sixteen first/second-round sites will be conducted March 1-2. Second-round winners will advance to one of four sectional sites March 8-9. Winners of the four sectional sites will advance to the national semifinals and final March 15-16. All games, except the semifinals/final, will be played on the campuses of competing institutions. The semifinals/final will be conducted at Cregger Center on the campus of Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia, hosted by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and the City of Salem.
