Eight MIAA Softball Players Earn All-Region VII Nod From NFCA

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Eight softball players from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) were selected to 2024 All-Region VII Teams by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on May 17.

A total of 376 student-athletes from 167 schools comprise the 2024 NFCA Division III All-Region teams.

The awards honor student-athletes from the Association’s 10 regions with selection to one of three teams.  NFCA member head coaches nominate and then vote for the winners in their respective region.  If they were not already voted to an All-Region squad, conference Players and Pitchers of the Year from member institutions are added to the third team in their region, so long as they are nominated by their member head coach and receive votes.

All honorees move forward to be considered for selection for the three NFCA Division III All-America squads, which will be announced May 29 online and on-site at the NCAA Division III Finals banquet in Marshall, Texas.

Seven players represent the MIAA on the All-Region VII First Team, including Adrian College's Karson Bagelmann, Calvin University's Brooke Hunderman, and Trine University's Debbie Hill, Tyra Marcum, Alexis Michon, Macy Rocha, and Karley Trine.  Additionally, Ellie Trine of Trine was named to the Third Team.

The Thunder will continue play in the 2024 NCAA Division III Championships, May 23-24.  Trine will host the Super Regional contests versus Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a 2:00 p.m. start time on Thursday and a 1:00 p.m. start time on Friday.  The third game (if necessary) is slated for Friday at 3:30 p.m.

The NFCA is the professional organization for fastpitch softball coaches. Known for its highly-regarded coaches polls and All-America awards, the NFCA also educates and supports softball coaches on a variety of different levels: from podcasts to awards, to in-person events and National Convention
