
HUDSONVILLE, Mich. -- At the conclusion of the 2024 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) softball regular season, head coaches from the MIAA's nine member institutions that sponsor softball voted on All-MIAA awards.
Calvin University sophomore Brooke Hunderman was voted the 2024 MIAA Pitcher of the Year after leading the Knights to be the second seed in the 2024 MIAA Softball Tournament with an overall mark of 13-3 in league play. Hunderman concluded conference play as the MIAA's leader with three shutouts, 56.1 innings pitched, and 77 strikeouts. She is also second in the conference with a batting-average against of .141 and fourth with an earned run average of 1.49. Hunderman was selected as the MIAA Pitcher of the Week twice this season and is recognized as an All-MIAA honoree for the first time.
Adrian College shortstop Karson Bagelmann was selected as the 2024 MIAA Position Player of the Year after assisting the Bulldogs to a conference record of 11-5 and the fourth seed in the 2024 MIAA Softball Tournament. Bagelmann finished the regular season as the league's leader with 28 runs, 25 hits, and four triples this season. The senior from Antelope, California, holds the conference’s top spot in stolen bases with 19 and assists with 38. She is most notably the league's leader with a .568 batting average and a .683 on-base percentage. She was second in the conference with a .909 slugging percentage. Bagelmann was named MIAA Position Player of the Week once this season and is now a two-time All-MIAA honoree.
Along with Bagelmann, four other players are receiving All-MIAA recognition for the second time in their careers: Calvin’s Carly Dole, Hope College’s Peyton Benjamin, Kalamazoo College's Lizzy Rottenberk, and Trine University’s Scarlett Elliott, Debbie Hill and Alexis Michon. For the fourth time in her collegiate career, Trine’s Ellie Trine is being recognized with all-conference accolades, and Calvin’s Taylor Sanborn is being recognized for the third time.
