NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Saint Mary's College Department of Athletics has announced that Cassie Young and Jamie Young will serve as co-head coaches of the softball program.

The pair have served as assistant coaches for the program since the 2019 season. Both have worked closely with the offensive and defensive strategies for the Belles over the past three seasons while assisting with the organization of practices and team activities. The duo joined the coaching staff immediately after concluding successful playing careers with the Saint Mary's softball team.

Cassie Young graduated as one of the all-time leaders in career batting average, single-season hits, career hits, career doubles, season and career runs batted in, and career runs scored. As the Belles' starting centerfielder for all four years, she was a two-time MIAA Most Valuable Player and a four-time All-MIAA selection. She garnered NFCA All-Region First Team honors three times and was named Third Team All-American at the conclusion of her senior season.

"We are excited for the next step in our journey at Saint Mary's College and are grateful for the opportunity to continue to do what we love," said Cassie Young. "We are thankful to continue to be a part of a community that is a large part of who we are, and that we get to share our favorite place with a great group of student-athletes. Go Belles!"

She is a 2018 alumna of Saint Mary's as she earned a degree in business administration with concentrations in management and finance.
