Five MIAA Softball Players Named to 2022 CoSIDA Academic All-District® First Team

On May 12, five softball players from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) were named to the 2022 Academic All-District® 6 Softball Team by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The 2021-22 Academic All-District® Softball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.  The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Those selected to the All-District® 6 Team include Alma's Hayden Terwilliger, Calvin's Kirsten Krause, Hope's Kaelin Callow, Kalamazoo's Lucy Hart, and Olivet's Erin Brady.

Alma infielder Haydn Terwilliger boasts a grade-point average of 3.95 as a Biology major.  The senior assisted the Scots to a spot in the NCAA DIII Softball Tournament following an overall record of 27-15 this season.  Terwilliger concluded the year in the MIAA's top 10 in games played (42), at bats (126), doubles (12), runs batted in (32), and strikeouts (29).

Calvin junior Kirsten Krause represents the MIAA as one of two pitchers in District 6.  As a nursing major, Krause has a grade-point average of 3.60.  She helped the Knights to a 28-11 record this season, including a 12-4 mark in league play.  Krause finished the season as the conference's leader in wins (15), innings pitched (149.1), at bats against (570).  She is also second with 26 appearances, 19 complete games, a .202 batting average against, and an ERA of 1.17.  Krause was selected to the All-MIAA First Team this season.

Senior infielder and Biology major Kaelin Callow of Hope earned a spot on the All-District 6 Team with a GPA of 3.84.  Callow assisted the Flying Dutch to a 13-3 conference record and an overall record of 26-12.  Callow closed out the year as the league leader with 14 double plays.  She is also third in both total chances (256) and put outs (255).  Callow became a two-time All-MIAA honoree this year.

Kalamazoo's Lucy Hart received All-Distract recognition as a Biochemistry major who boasts a 3.97 GPA.  The junior infielder helped the Hornets to an overall mark of 21-13 this season.  Hart finished top five in the conference in triples (2), on-base percentage (.471), slugging percentage (.613), total chances (243), and put outs (239).
