Olivet (0-2, 0-0)
Olivet opened its 2020 season Friday, Feb. 14 at the Legacy Center in Brighton. The Comets fell to Cleary University, 11-0, in five innings and Madonna University, 3-2. The Comets' lone runs were scored on a two-run home run by freshman Madison Carroll. Senior Taylor Shellenberger finished the day with three hits in five at-bats for a .600 batting average. Freshman Jessica Barnes had two hits, including a double.
Saint Mary's (0-2, 0-0)
The Belles fell in a pair of contests at the Legacy Center in Brighton, Michigan on Friday. In a 5-0 loss against Concordia Ann Arbor, Kelsey Keilman and Alison Alberts each registered a single for Saint Mary's. Mandi Hettinger shouldered the loss in the circle after going the distance and striking out three. In a tight 2-1 setback against Cleary, Keilman went 1-for-3 with a double, a stolen base, and a run scored to help lead the offense. Brianna Martinez collected her first career hit, and Mandi Hettinger added a 1-for-3 effort with an RBI. Hailey Hisaw went six complete innings with just one walk and no earned runs allowed.
