The Hope College softball team lost to 16th-ranked Alma College 7-3 on Friday in the completion of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association game suspended Wednesday due to unplayable conditions.
Second baseman Sierra Mutschler of Wayland, Michigan (Wayland HS) finished with two RBI on a first-inning groundout and a seventh-inning sacrifice fly.
Catcher Hayley Reitsma of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grand Rapids Christian HS) added a third-inning RBI single that plated Mutschler.
Hope trailed 4-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning when rain halted play on Wednesday.
The Scots (17-5, 4-0 MIAA) tacked on one more run when play resumed Friday, then added two more in the sixth.
Hope fell to 9-7 overall and 0-2 in MIAA play.
The Flying Dutch are scheduled to return to action on Monday, April 4 at 3:30 p.m. when they host Olivet. Their scheduled doubleheader Saturday was postponed due to wintry weather.
