MIAA Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes Earn Nineteen All-Region Accolades

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- On May 17, men's outdoor track and field student-athletes from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) received a total of nineteen All-Region accolades from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Assocation (USTFCCCA).

Top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-3 ranked relay team.

Hope College was represented by five student-athletes on the All-Region list, followed by Albion College with four honorees and The University of Olivet with three.  Trine University has two student-athletes on the All-Region list, while one athlete from both Adrian College and Calvin University was recognized.

Three MIAA student-athletes earned regional recognition in at least two different events, including Albion's DaMario Chapman, Olivet's Jordon Brown, and Trine's Jake Gladieux.

Chapman earned All-Region nods for the 100m dash and the 200m dash.  At the 2024 MIAA Championships, Chapman set a new conference record in the 100m dash with a time of 10.50.  His performance in the event is tied-for-nineteenth in the nation.  Chapman also finished the 200m dash with a time of 21.31 which is tied-for-30th in the country.  Additionally, Chapman competed in the record-breaking 4x100m relay (41.35) which is tied-for-37th in Division III.

Brown received regional recognition for both the 200m dash and the 400m dash.  He set new MIAA records at the conference meet with a time of 21.02 in the 200m dash and a time of 47.19 in the 400m dash.  Brown's performance in the 200m dash is ranked twelfth in the nation, while his time in the 400m dash is fifteenth in the country.

Gladieux was named to the All-Region Team in both hurdle events after assisting the Thunder to their fourth outdoor title in program history.  He broke both league records at the MIAA Championships after clocking in at 14.23 in the 110m hurdles and 52.10 in the 400m hurdles.  Gladieux is the top regional performer in both events.  His previous season-best times from the Raleigh Relays rank him fourth (400m hurdles - 51.98) and eighth (110m hurdles - 14.14) in the nation.

Chapman, Brown, and Gladieux all qualified for the NCAA Championships, which will be held May 23-25 at the Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  Chapman will compete in the 100m dash, Brown will participate in both the 200m dash and the 400m dash, and Gladieux will race in both hurdle events.  The three MIAA student-athletes will be joined at nationals by Calvin University All-Region honoree Luke Witvliet in the 10,000m run and Hope College All-Region runner Connor Vachon in the 1,500m run.
