Men's Recap
Calvin won their seventh consecutive MIAA Field Day Friday with depth at the distance events and four individual wins to capture the 2019 MIAA Men's Track & Field Championship, hosted by Hope.
Calvin's James Jeninga won the 800m run, crossing the line in 1:53.41 to lead a 1-4-6-8 for the Knights in the event. Calvin went 1-3-5 in the 3,000m steeplechase, with Caleb Ferguson crossing first in 9:21.82 for a third-consecutive steeplechase title.
Four MIAA records were set during the two-day event. Along with Trine's Jeffery Barnett's record in the long jump set Thursday, Hope's Justin Freeman won the 200m dash in a record time of 21.32, good for tied for sixth in NCAA Division III; Freeman also ran the 100m dash in 10.56, which established an MIAA record. Adrian's Denzel Tinsley wom the 110m hurdles in 14.41 for a new MIAA record in the event. Barnett now ranks fifth in the nation in the long jump, while Tinsley's time ranks sixth nationally.
Hope's Freeman was a part of three MIAA wins on Friday; along with individual wins in the 200m dash, Freeman won the 100m dash (10.56) and was the anchor of Hope's 4x100m relay win in 41.83.
Calvin's Brendan VanHouten won a third consecutive title in the discus with a mark of 50.75m. VanHouten's throw was the first time an MIAA competitor eclipsed the 50m mark since 2006.
Olivet's win in the 4x400m relay was the first for the Comets since winning in 1978. Olivet combined for a time of 3:20.38.

Hope was victorious in five Field Day events, as the Flying Dutch won the 2019 MIAA Women's Track and Field Championships Friday at their home venue.
Hope went 1-2-3-4 in the 400m hurdles to earn 29 points in the event; winning the race was Hayley Scollard for the Flying Dutch with a time of 1:08.36.
Hope's Chelsea Miskelley went back-to-back in the 800m run, winning in 2019 with a time of 2:17.28. Teammate Addyson Gerig also defended the high jump title with a mark of 1.53m on Friday, which led a 1-2-T3 finish for Hope in the event.
Mitchel Achien'g scored 25 points individually in the 100m hurdles (1st, 15.75), long jump (2nd, 5.32m), triple jump (5th, 10.45m), 100m dash (7th, 13.32), 200m dash (8th, 27.54), while anchoring Hope's third-place 4x100m relay team.
Albion's Layla Wilks was a three-time winner with successful defense of MIAA titles in the 100m dash (12.41) and 200m dash (25.74) while anchoring the winning 4x100m relay (48.09).
