10 MIAA Teams Earn CSCAA Scholar All-America Recognition for Spring 2021

The College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced their Scholar All-America Teams for the Spring 2021 semester, with five Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association swimming and diving programs representing 10 teams (five for each gender).

Albion, Calvin, Hope, Kalamazoo, and Olivet's men's and women's swimming and diving teams were among a total of 721 teams from 424 institutions.  On the men's side, Albion tops the league with a 3.53 grade point average, while Olivet leads the women with a GPA of 3.62.

The CSCAA recognizes Scholar All-America Teams for both the Fall and Winter Semesters.  In order to be recognized, teams must:

  • - Be current CSCAA members;

  • - Have achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher;

  • - Be nominated by a current CSCAA member or their designee by the entry deadline.

Calculating Team GPA

  • - Team GPA calculations must include any student-athlete who competed at any time during the current season.

    • - For Fall 2020: GPAs should be calculated using all student-athletes on a team’s roster, regardless of competition.

  • - Team GPA calculations shall not include redshirts.

  • - Use each student-athlete's semester/quarter GPA (do not use cumulative GPAs).

  • - Add each student-athlete's GPA and divide by the number of student-athletes

Founded in 1922, the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), is the nation’s first organization of college coaches. The mission of the CSCAA is to advance the sport of swimming and diving with coaches at the epicenter of leadership, advocacy, and professional development.
