Around the MIAA

Adrian (3-5, 0-0)

Adrian went 1-1 during the week including a 15-10 loss at Heidelberg on Wednesday followed by an 18-3 home victory against Mount St. Joseph University…the Bulldogs wrap up their non-MIAA schedule on Saturday versus Anderson (Ind.) to also signal a close for the March schedule… freshman MF Max Leventis tied the Adrian single-game ground balls record with 19 against MSJ…Leventis also had 19 versus La Roche on March 17, sharing the original benchmark set by Mitch Barnard against--Mount St. Joseph on May 8, 2011…Adrian improves to 7-0 all-time (4-0 at home) over Mount St. Joseph, as the teams were meeting for the first time since March 4, 2012…The schools were former members of the Midwest Lacrosse League together….freshmen attackmen Chris French and Peyton Gasche rank 2-3 in MIAA point-scoring with 43 and 41 points, respectively…French inches within one of the MIAA goal lead with 29….Leventis paces the conference with 99 ground balls--already third in Bulldogs all-time season history--and 125 face-off wins.


Albion (2-5, 0-0)

Jacob Swift (Howell, Mich.) achieved career highs with five goals and six points to power Albion College to an 11-6 victory over Aurora University on Saturday. Swift was efficient, scoring on five of his seven shots on goal. Jace Conley (Waterford, Mich.) scored on all three of his shots on goal.

Alma (4-6, 0-0)

Senior midfielder Jared Nycz (Buffalo, N.Y.) scored in the second quarter of the Scots' 13-8 loss to DePauw University on Saturday (Mar. 24). The goal was Nycz's 120th career goal, making the senior the program's all-time goals scored record holder. Nycz also holds the program record for most assists and most points all-time. Nycz added three assists in the loss while senior goalie Cameron Stelljes (Okemos, Mich.) surpassed 400 career saves with 16 stops against the Tigers.


Calvin (5-3, 0-0)

Calvin dropped a tough 6-5 double-overtime defeat to Farmingdale State last Wednesday in Davenport, Florida. Freshman Chase Sparling had two goals and two assists in defeat. Sophomore Gerrit Kurtycz posted a career-high 24 saves in the loss.


Hope (5-2, 0-0)

The Hope College men's lacrosse team had its four-game win streak snapped on Saturday with a 20-10 loss to Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois. Junior attacker Rocco Mularoni (Hartland, Mich.) led the Flying Dutchmen offense with four goals. Junior defender Andrew Caris (Hartland, Mich.) led Hope's defense with seven ground balls.


Kalamazoo (4-0, 0-0)

Did not compete. Kalamazoo travels to Washington & Jefferson on Wednesday, March 27 and Misericordia on Saturday, March 30. The Hornets are one of eight undefeated teams in the nation remaining in NCAA Division III.


Olivet (0-0, 0-0)

Did not compete.


Trine (4-1, 0-0)

Defeated Wabash 16-6 in only matchup of the week...Justin Gearig scored three goals and five assists for eight points to lead the Thunder scorers...Dave Keptner had 11 ground balls and Joseph Steigmeyer got the win in net after making seven saves.
