Hope College's Scott Lokers Named 2024 MIAA Men's Golf Coach of the Year

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. -- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) proudly announces Hope College's Scott Lokers as the 2024 Men's Golf Coach of the Year.

This prestigious accolade is a coaches vote based on the achievements of their colleagues both during regular- and post-season competition.

Lokers was selected as the 2024 Men's Golf Coach of the Year after leading the Flying Dutchmen to the MIAA Championship title with a team average of 299.00.  Hope is currently competing at the NCAA Championships, held in Boulder City, Nevada.

"The privilege to be the men’s golf coach at Hope College has brought me great joy," commented Lokers.  "Being part of the MIAA gives me the opportunity to rub elbows with amazing coaches, athletes, and parents.  Having the support of the Hope College community—especially athletic directors, fellow coaches, and athletes in other sports—is so encouraging.  And then, being around the incredible young men on our team and their families leads to experiences that are unforgettable."

Under the leadership of Lokers, four men's golfers received 2024 All-MIAA honors including 2024 MIAA Most Valuable Golfer and two-time all-conference honoree Liam Casey, four-time All-MIAA golfer Will Robson, two-time all-league honoree Logan DeWitt, and first-time All-MIAA honoree Will Webb.

In his seventh at the helm of the men's program, Lokers has guided the Flying Dutchmen to MIAA Championships in 2018, 2022, and 2024, five NCAA Division III Championship appearances, and two top-ten finishes at nationals.  In his first season, Lokers led Hope to a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Division III Championship that matched the highest finish in team history.  He has also assisted the Flying Dutchmen to MIAA Tournament titles in 2023, 2022 and 2018.
