Olivet College’s Ali Named to D3hoops.com Team of the Week

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Olivet College senior Tevin Ali has been selected to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware.com.

The D3hoops.com Team of the Week recognizes the top five men's and women's basketball players from the previous week. Due to the holidays, this week's team included games played from December 12, 2022 through January 1, 2023.

Joining Ali on the team are senior guard Raheem Anthony from Saint Mary's (Minn.) University, graduate student guard Spencer Freedman from New York University, senior guard Josh Angle from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and graduate student guard Emerson Halbleib from Bridgewater State (Mass.) University.

Over the previous five games for the Comets, Ali averaged 12.6 points and 11.4 rebounds. He started the stretch with 12 points on 3-of-3 shooting from the floor and 6-of-6 free throws and seven rebounds against Defiance (Ohio) College. Ali then had 10 points and seven rebounds in Olivet's home-opener against DePauw (Ind.) University. He followed that with nine points and 14 rebounds against Finlandia University.

At the Music Classic in Nashville, Ali scored four points and grabbed six rebounds against Coe (Iowa) College. He then recorded a double-double with 32 points and 23 rebounds in an 83-80 overtime win against Wittenberg (Ohio) University.

For the five games, Ali shot 50 percent (23-of-46) from the floor and 76.2 percent (16-of-21) from the free throw line for 63 points. Ten of his 57 total rebounds came off the offensive glass. Ali also tallied 10 assists, six blocks and two steals.

The Comets (4-7) welcome Adrian College to the Cutler Event Center today for its first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
