Albion senior Caden Ebeling and Hope sophomore Evan Thomas were both named to the 2021 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® Division III Men's Basketball Team.

The 2020-21 Academic All-District® Men’s Basketball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

With their Academic All-District® accolades, the players will be eligible for CoSIDA Division III Academic All-America® honors, announced in late May.

A double major in accounting and communication studies, Ebeling recorded a grade point average of 3.73.  Over his four years in the MIAA, Ebeling has become a three-time First Team All-MIAA player, a D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region honoree (2021), and was named to the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week in January 2019.

On the court this season, Ebeling hit his 1000th career point at Adrian on January 23 and reached 600 career rebounds at Alma on February 9.  In conference play, Ebeling finished the year second in the league in free throws (29-of-33), free throw percentage (.879), and third in offensive boards (15), points (103), and points per contest (17.2).

Thomas, a biology major, boasts a grade point average of 3.95.  Thomas was named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll in 2020.

A starter for the Flying Dutchmen, Thomas finished the regular season second in defensive rebounds (40) and total boards (53), third in free throws (27-of-36), and fourth with 8.8 rebounds per contest.

CoSIDA's NCAA Division III District 6 includes Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Members of CoSIDA from the district vote on Academic All-District® honors. Student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 GPA on a 4.0 scale and must have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution to be eligible.
