Albion Recap
A Jamezell Davis, Jr. layup is what the Albion men's basketball team needed to seal their first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association regular-season championship since 2005. It was a defensive stop on the last possession of the game that held a 66-62 final against Trine Feb. 19 in the friendly confines of Kresge Gymnasium.
It is the first MIAA title under head coach Jody May and the 7th regular-season championship in the program's history.
Davis' layup gave the junior guard a game-high 18 points to lead the Britons. Both Quinton Armstrong and Caden Ebeling had double-doubles in scoring and rebounding.
Albion will be the top seed in the upcoming 2020 MIAA Men's Basketball Tournament Feb. 25, 28, and 29, where the winner will receive an automatic berth into the 2020 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship. Albion, the host for Friday's semifinals and Saturday's final, will enter the tournament at the semifinal round Friday, Feb. 28. The entire six-team tournament field will be announced at the conclusion of the 2020 MIAA regular season Saturday, Feb. 22.
