
After winning the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Basketball Tournament title in exciting and memorable fashion, the Albion men's basketball team will face Loras in the First Round of the 2019 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship, marking the first NCAA berth for the Britons since the 2005 campaign.
Albion (19-8) won their first MIAA Tournament championship since 1998 with an 87-85 win over Olivet in the semifinals and a 76-73 win against top-seed Trine in the title tilt. Loras is ranked 18th nationally by D3hoops.com and received an at-large berth to the NCAAs.
The winner of Albion and Loras will face the winner of host North Central College and Chatham.
Sixteen sites will host four teams for first and second-round competition Friday-Saturday, March 1-2. Second-round winners will advance to one of four sectional-round sites March 8-9. Winners of the four sectional games will advance to the semi-finals and finals March 15 and 16. All games, except the semi- finals and finals, will be played on the campuses of competing institutions. The semi-finals and finals will be conducted at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Ind.
