• Hope secured the 2017 MIAA regular season title with their 83-76 overtime win against Trine Wednesday, and coupled with their 82-62 victory at Adrian Feb. 11, the Flying Dutchmen own a four-game cushion heading into the final week. Against Trine Feb. 8, Hope battled back from a seven-point halftime deficit thanks to just four second-half turnovers; Dante Hawkins (Jr., G, Holland, Mich.) had a game-high 24 points to pace the Flying Dutchmen. At Adrian, Harrison Blackledge (Sr., F, Canton, Ohio) had team-highs of 21 points and seven rebounds while Hawkins led the squad with seven assists.
• Albion came up with two key MIAA victories to stay alive for a postseason berth. The Brits started the week with a 72-51 win at Adrian Feb. 8, bolstered by Jason Zahran (Sr., F, Trenton, Mich.) and his team-bests of 14 points and nine assists while adding seven rebounds and three blocks. Albion then buckled down for an 89-84 comeback win against Olivet Feb. 11 to move into fifth place with two games remaining. Corey Wheeler (Jr., G, Detroit, Mich.) had 16 of his team-high 19 points in helping the Brits tally a 54-point scoring outburst in their second half against the Comets.
