
A pair of Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's basketball teams were named to the 64-team 2017 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament Monday. MIAA automatic qualifier Calvin and at-large selection Hope give the MIAA two teams in the national tournament for the second consecutive year and third time in four seasons.
Calvin will travel to face first-round host Marietta Friday, March 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the Ban Johnson Arena in Marietta, Ohio. The winner of that contest will face the winner of Guilford/Thomas More in the NCAA Second Round Saturday, March 4 at 8 p.m.
Hope serves as a host for 1st and 2nd round play and will take on UW-Oshkosh Friday, March 3 at 7:30 p.m. at DeVos Fieldhouse in Holland, Mich. Also joining the Flying Dutchmen and Titans are Washington-St. Louis and Ripon.
Calvin (17-10) is on a five-game winning streak heading into their NCAA Tournament contest and return to the national tournament for the fourth time in five seasons.
Hope (21-6) makes their second NCAA Tournament appearance in as many seasons and 10th since the 2006 campaign. The MIAA regular season champion spent much of the 2016-17 season ranked in the top 25 nationally and boasted a 13-game winning streak mid-season.
NCAA Sectional rounds are set for March 10-11, with the final four teams competing in Salem, Va., March 17-18.
