Brady Eding of the Hope College football team is one of 176 national semifinalists for the 2021 William V. Campbell Trophy®, the National Football Foundation's premier scholar-athlete award.
The senior offensive lineman is part of a group of NCAA Division III, NCAA Division II, NCAA Football Championship Subdivision, NCAA Football Subdivision, and NAIA student-athletes to be nominated by their respective schools.
The NFF will announce 12 to 14 finalists on Monday, Oct. 27, and each of them will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship as a member of the 2021 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class Presented by Fidelity Investments.
The finalists will travel to Las Vegas for the 63rd National Football Foundation Annual Awards Dinner Presented by Las Vegas on Tuesday, Dec. 7. One of the finalists will be declared as the winner of the 32nd Campbell Trophy® and have his postgraduate scholarship increased to $25,000.
Eding (Hamilton, Michigan / Hamilton HS) is a three-year starter. This season, the fifth-year senior plays at right tackle for the 3-1 Flying Dutchmen. He is majoring in business and classical studies.
Last spring, Eding was voted to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District Team®. He also earned MIAA Honor Roll honors for the second consecutive year.
In 2019, MIAA coaches chose Eding as an All-MIAA Second Team selection as an offensive lineman.
Eding is one of 39 Campbell Trophy® semifinalists from Division III.
Candidates for the Campbell Trophy® must be a senior or graduate student in their final year of playing eligibility, have a GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, have outstanding football ability as a first-team player or significant contributor, and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship.
The class is selected each year by the NFF Awards Committee, which is comprised of a nationally recognized group of media, College Football Hall of Famers, and athletics administrators.
