
Two players from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA), Albion College's Mitch Arendsen and Trine University's Kyle Naif, were selected to the 2021 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division III All-America Second Team on Tuesday, December 14.
Senior defensive lineman Mitch Arendsen assisted the Britons to the MIAA regular-season co-championship title, an overall record of 9-2 and a 5-1 mark in league play, along with the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Championships. Arendsen was voted the 2021 MIAA Defensive Player of the Year and received All-MIAA honors for his fourth-consecutive season. Overall, the Brit led the MIAA with 11.5 sacks and 81 sack yards.
Trine junior linebacker Kyle Naif led the Thunder defense to an overall record of 6-4 and a 4-2 mark in regular-season contests. Naif earned All-MIAA accolades for his second-straight season. He concluded the year second in the league with 40 tackles assists and 7.7 tackles per game, and third with 77 tackles.
Arendsen and Naif both earned a spot on the 2021 D3football.com All-Region 4 Second Team Defense on December 8.
