Seven MIAA Football Players Receive CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

Seven football players from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) earned 2021 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 6 Team accolades.  All seven student-athletes will advance to the national ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-America®.

The 2020-21 Academic All-District® Football Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.   First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot.

Those named to the All-District 6 Team include Albion's Jack Bush and Jared Jones, Hope's Brady Eding, Kalamazoo's Noah Coplan, and Olivet's Andrew Campbell, David Curl and Seth Young.

Quarterback Jack Bush earned a 3.91 grade point average during his junior year at Albion.  The Finance major led the Britons to the 2021 MIAA Championship title with a perfect 3-0 mark in conference games.  In league play, the 2021 MIAA Most Valuable Offensive Player finished first with 89 pass completions, a .718 completion percentage (89-of-124), 1,077 total yards, 359.0 yards per game, and a pass efficiency rating of 161.2.

Olivet Accounting major Andrew Campbell received a 3.56 GPA.  Campbell concluded his senior season with a total of nine tackles and seven assists in three games.  Campbell finishes his collegiate career with 23 games, 56 solo tackles, 49 assists, and nine tackles for loss.

Business major Noah Coplan earned a 3.71 grade point average at Kalamazoo.  In the two games played this season, the senior defensive lineman totaled six tackles and three assists.  Throughout his four years with the Hornets, Coplan accumulated 58 solo tackles, 66 assists, 11.5 sacks (63 yards), and 21 tackles for loss (83 yards).  Coplan was named to the 2020-21 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society, earned CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 First Team recognition for 2019, and has been on the MIAA Academic Honor Roll for three years (2017-19).

David Curl of Olivet boasts a 3.83 GPA as a Criminal Justice major.  In four games, the sophomore defensive lineman totaled 12 solo tackles, nine assists, and 3.5 sacks for a loss of 12 yards.

Hope offensive lineman Brady Eding has a 3.65 GPA as a Business and Classical Studies major.  Although the Flying Dutchmen opted out of the spring 2021 season, senior Eding saw action in a total of 23 games during his three-year stint at Hope.  Eding qualified for the MIAA Academic Honor Roll in 2020.

Economics and Management major Jared Jones, a senior offensive lineman for the Britons, boasts a GPA of 3.81.  Jones saw playing time in all three games this season, assisting Albion to the championship title.  He is a three-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll honoree.

Olivet Exercise Science major Seth Young earned a grade point average of 3.67.  In four games this season, the junior tight end totaled 13 receptions for 147 yards, averaging 36.8 yards per contest.  Young is a two-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll recipient.

CoSIDA's NCAA Division III District 6 includes Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Members of CoSIDA from the district vote on Academic All-District® honors. Student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 GPA on a 4.0 scale and must have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution to be eligible.
