Adrian (5-5, 4-3)
The Bulldogs wrapped up its 2019 slate with a 42-7 road defeat at the hands of Hope, the MIAA champion, Nov. 16. Sophomore Jack Wurzer threw for 235 yards on 18 of 32 pass attempts. Junior Henry Wilson tied for the game lead with five receptions, including the Bulldogs' lone touchdown, with 68 yards.
Albion (8-2, 5-2)
First-Year Head Coach Dustin Beurer led Albion to an 8-2 record, its best record under coach in his first year since Tom Taylor’s 1969 squad achieved an 8-0 record…Kyle Thomas (Wixom, Mich.) rolled up 152 all-purpose yards – rushing for 83 yards and a touchdown and adding 69 receiving yards – in the Britons 30-21 victory over Olivet…Justin Thomas (Wixom, Mich.) hauled in a 36-yard touchdown pass from Jack Bush (Chelsea, Mich.). Justin hauled in 17 touchdown receptions, an Albion single-season record, and his nine against MIAA rivals was most in the most in the league…Bush threw for 244 yards at Olivet, his second-most in a game this season…Kicker Josh Castillo (Wyandotte, Mich.) made all three of his field goal attempts at Olivet, including a career-long 39-yard kick…Defensively, seven Britons recorded a tackle for loss at Olivet.
Alma (6-4, 4-3)
Alma wrapped up the season with a 46-0 victory over Finlandia University on Saturday (Nov. 16) on Senior Day. Alma scored on its first three offensive drives while earning a safety, a fumble recovery, and a 10-minute drive the ended in a turnover on downs on its first three defensive possessions. Ryan Stevens (Lowell, Mich.) finished 8-of-11 for 77 yards and two touchdowns on three drives. Mason Ippel (Jenison, Mich.) ran for 65 yards on six carries and one touchdown. Joseph Schaefer (Lowell, Mich.) caught four passes for 48 yards and two touchdowns while Dontae Burks (Whitehall, Mich.) led the ground game with 67 yards, including a 31-yard touchdown run, on just five carries.
Finlandia (0-10, 0-7)
Sophomore Kenny Kujawa tied a school record as the Finlandia University football team (0-10, 0-7 MIAA) lost 46-0 to Alma (6-4, 4-3 MIAA), Saturday afternoon at Bahlke Field. Kujawa caught four passes for 49 yards. That moves him to 45 catches for the season, tying the mark set by Darrion Robinson in 2015. Kujawa also became the first Lion to have over 800 career receiving yards.
RV/RV Hope (9-1, 7-0)
Hope's historic 42-7 victory against Adrian in the regular-season finale checked a bevy of boxes: 14th outright MIAA championship and 21st title overall; first perfect MIAA campaign since 2006 and ninth overall; second nine-win season in team history; nine-game win streak heading into next week's NCAA Division III playoffs; winningest senior class in team history with a 32-8 record. Sophomore running back Kenyea Houston (Chicago, Ill.) had a career-high 194 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries. Houston scored on runs of four and 61 yards. Junior running back Connor Mellon (Adrian, Mich.) added 92 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries. Mellon closed the scoring with third-quarter touchdown runs of four and 14 yards.
Kalamazoo (2-8, 1-6)
The Hornets lost their season finale 29-3 at Trine Nov. 16. Jared Pittman led the Hornets with 99 yards rushing on 17 carries. Pittman also had 44 yards receiving on four catches. Bubba Wilson had four catches for 36 yards.
Olivet (8-2, 5-2)
Olivet wrapped-up its season with a 30-21 loss to Albion. The Comets finished the game with 290 yards of offense. Senior McMinn had 25 carries for 76 yards to give the fourth-most rushing yards in a season in school history with 1,090. Freshman Kaleb Jarrett completed 13-of-26 passes for 118 yards. Freshman Jalen Broussard was the leading receiver with seven catches for 32 yards. Freshman Teondre' Patterson caught three passes for 44 yards. Senior Kolby Williams led the defense with 12 total tackles, with 10 solo stops.
Trine (5-5, 2-5)
The Thunder ended the 2019 season on a high note with a 29-3 win against Kalamazoo in the MIAA and season finale at Fred Zollner Athletic Stadium on senior day. Trine finished with 325 yards of total offense with 234 yards on the ground.
