After a conference-wide bye for Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association football teams, the MIAA picked up where it left off earlier in the season with two players selected to the D3football.com's National Team of the Week. It marked the fourth time at least one MIAA player was included on the elite listing.
Albion kicker Andrew Fabry and Trine running back Lamar Carswell were both named to the Oct. 2 D3football.com's National Team of the Week for their efforts in the MIAA openers for their respective teams.
In Albion's 37-34 double-overtime win at Alma Sept. 29, Fabry kicked three field goals, including a 33-yarder in the second overtime period. Before the game-winning kick, Fabry was good from 41 and 28 yards and was perfect on four extra point attempts as well.
Carswell recorded his second consecutive 200-yard rushing game of the season in No. 15 Trine's 35-25 win at Hope Sept. 29. He scored four rushing touchdowns in a game for the second time in his career; three of those touchdowns gave Trine the lead, with the fourth securing the game with 2:30 left in the fourth quarter.
Both individuals garnered MIAA Player of the Week accolades on Monday.
