Seven baseball players from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) were announced to All-Region 7 teams by D3baseball.com on May 28.
Calvin University sophomore represents the MIAA on the All-Region 7 First Team. The third baseman became a two-time All-MIAA honoree this season following his performance in league play. Gillen concluded the year as the overall conference leader with 11 home runs, 123 total bases, and a batting average of .415. He also landed in the top five with 164 at bats, 68 hits, 14 doubles, four triples, 46 runs batted in, and a .750 slugging percentage.
The All-Region Second Team includes Adrian College sophomore Jakob Charles, Albion College junior Kris Stojanovski, and Alma College senior Avery Carnicom.
Charles, a two-time All-MIAA pitcher, assisted the Bulldogs to the 2024 MIAA Tournament crown and the NCAA Regional Championship title. He finished the season as the league leader with 13 games started, nine wins, 84.1 innings pitched, and a WHIP of 1.13.
Stojanovski, an outfielder for the Brits, finished the 2024 campaign as the conference leader in both triples (6) and slugging percentage (.761). He is also in the top three with nine home runs, 108 total bases, 22 stolen bases, a .387 batting average and an on-base percentage of .500.
Caricom earned a spot on the All-Region Second Team after leading the Scots to an overall record of 24-18 (13-8 MIAA). The first baseman wrapped up the season as the leader in both runs (53) and double plays (31), while also finishing in the top three with 210 plate appearances, 17 doubles, 46 runs batted in, 31 walks, six sacrifice flies, an on-base percentage of .505, a .675 slugging percentage, 336 total chances, and 315 put outs.
Hope College junior pitcher Trent Johnson and senior outfielder Robbie Stuursma, along with Kalamazoo College senior catcher Harrison Poeszat were all named to the All-Region Third Team.
Johnson was voted the 2024 MIAA Most Valuable Pitcher after leading the Flying Dutchmen to a 13-8 conference record (22-20 overall). Johnson concluded the season as the league's leader with four complete games, two shutouts, 83 hits, 322 at-bats against, and an earned-run average of 3.17. Johnson received All-MIAA recognition for the first time in his career this year.
Stuursma earned the title of 2024 MIAA Most Valuable Position Player. The two-time All-MIAA honoree finished this season's campaign in the conference's top five with 14 doubles, five triples, 27 walks, 22 stolen bases, and an on-base percentage of .492.
Poeszat became a two-time All-MIAA selection after leading the Hornets to the 2024 MIAA regular-season title with a league record of 16-5 (30-11 overall). He completed the season as the conference leader with 61 runs batted in and finished in the top five with 15 doubles, nine home runs, 161 at bats, and 100 total bases.
