Nine MIAA Baseball Players Named to ABCA/Rawlings All-Region 7 Teams
Nine baseball players from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) were selected to All-Region 7 teams by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) on May 28.
 
The teams are voted on by members of the ABCA and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. III All-America & Coach of the Year Committee.
 
Both Calvin University's Patrick Gillen and Kalamazoo College's Harrison Poeszat represent the MIAA on the All-Region 7 First Team.
 
Sophomore third baseman Patrick Gillen became a two-time All-MIAA honoree this season following his performance in league play.  Gillen concluded the year as the overall conference leader with 11 home runs, 123 total bases, and a batting average of .415.  He also landed in the top five with 164 at bats, 68 hits, 14 doubles, four triples, 46 runs batted in, and a .750 slugging percentage.
 
Senior catcher Harrison Poeszat also became a two-time All-MIAA selection this year after leading the Hornets to their second-straight league title with a conference record of 16-5 (30-11 overall).  Poeszat finished the season as the MIAA's leader with 61 runs batted in.  He was also in the top five with 161 at bats, 15 doubles, nine home runs, and 100 total bases.
 
Alma College's Avery Carnicom, and Adrian College's Nic Bruder, Jakob Charles, and AJ Miranda all earned a spot on the Second Team, while Alma's Colin Czajkowski and Hope College's Trent Johnson and Robbie Stuursma were named to the Third Team.
