KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Third-seeded Adrian College went 4-1 over the week to win the 2023 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Baseball Tournament title.

The Bulldogs opened the tournament with a 7-5 loss to No. 2-seed Alma College.  Cole Grunwald led the Scots with two runs, while pitcher Tyler Johnson totaled six strikeouts in six innings pitched.  On Adrian's side, Jakob Charles led the team with two runs.

In Adrian's second game, the Bulldogs notched a 12-1 victory over fourth-seeded Hope College.  Jakob Charles once again led the squad with a game-best three runs while four other players tallied two runs each.  Owen Krizan scored the lone run for the Flying Dutchmen.

The Bulldogs took down top-seeded Kalamazoo College with a score of 13-8.  Ryan Davis scored a game high of four times for Adrian, including a home run, while AJ Miranda totaled three runs.  Both Ryar Rinehart and Harrison Poeszat tallied two runs for the Hornets.

Adrian earned a 20-6 win against Alma, forcing the two teams to an "if" game.  Ryan Davis had three runs for the Bulldogs and six other players had two runs.  On the mound, Don Goodes struck out nine Scots.  Alma was led by Kyler Warren with two runs.

The Bulldogs secured the tournament title with a 7-2 win against the Scots.  The Bulldogs were once again led by Ryan Davis with two runs.  Davis also totaled four strikeouts on the mound.  Avery Carnicom and Mitch Foley both put Alma on the board.

Adrian receives the automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship.  The baseball championship field will be announced during the selection show on Monday, May 15, at 12:00 p.m.
