MIAA Athletes of the Week - December 2, 2019

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has announced the two student-athletes selected as its Athletes of the Week, for the week of competition ending on December 1, 2019. 
 
The MIAA Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by coaches following one week of competition, and selected by the MIAA Director of Media Relations.
 
This week's winners are listed below with their respective achievements during last week's competition. 

MIAA Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week

Cole Kleiver, Alma
Sophomore, Guard
Williamston, Mich.

Cole Kleiver averaged 23.5 points per game last week, shooting 64.3 percent from the field and 50 percent from three-point range to aid Alma in two victories. Against UW-Stout Nov. 30, Kleiver shot 12-of-17 from the field on the way to 32 points in 29 minutes of play while adding six rebounds in Alma's 95-71 win; Kliever was 10-of-13 shooting in the first half alone. Kleiver had 15 points and eight assists with two steals and three rebounds at Millikin Nov. 25.

MIAA Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week

Gabby Timmer, Calvin
Sophomore, Forward
Caledonia, Mich.

Gabby Timmer averaged 18.7 points and 9.3 rebounds in a 2-1 week for Calvin. In Calvin's 71-53 win over Buena Vista Nov. 29, Timmer tallied 25 points thanks to 11-of-15 shooting from the field while adding nine rebounds. Timmer had a double-double in a 69-51 victory over Northwestern Ohio Nov. 26, registering 17 points with 11 rebounds, including six on the offensive end. Timmer was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Simpson Thanksgiving Classic Nov. 29-30.
