MIAA Athletes of the Week - November 25, 2019

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has announced the five student-athletes selected as its Athletes of the Week, for the week of competition ending on November 24, 2019. 
 
The MIAA Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by coaches following one week of competition, and selected by the MIAA Director of Media Relations.
 
This week's winners are listed below with their respective achievements during last week's competition. 

MIAA Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week

Caden Ebeling, Albion
Junior, Forward
Shelby, Mich.

Caden Ebeling shot 13-of-14 from the field on the way to a 31-point performance in Albion's 95-71 win over Earlham Nov. 22. Ebeling's single-game shooting effort is ranked third-best in the NCAA this season. Ebeling also added eight rebounds, two steals, one blocked shot and one assist in 30 minutes of play.

MIAA Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week

Rain Hinton, Albion
Junior, Forward/Center
Fort Wayne, Ind.

Rain Hinton averaged 18.7 points and 9.7 rebounds per game in a 3-0 week for Albion. Hinton was named the Fred Razik Tournament Most Valuable Player in Albion's tournament title after pouring in 27 points in 25 minutes of play, shooting 12-of-16 from the field while adding an impressive 23 rebounds against Hiram Nov. 22; that total ties the Albion record for rebounds in a game. Hinton shot 57.5 percent from the field on the week and was 10-of-13 from the free throw line.

MIAA Men's Diving Athlete of the Week

Justin Huttenlocher, Albion
Freshman
Shelby Twp., Mich.

Justin Huttenlocher placed third on the 1-meter board among nine competitors at the Gail Moll Pebworth Invitational Nov. 22-24, scoring 395.05 for a personal-best score. Huttenlocher then scored 389.60 on the 3-meter board, just missing a personal best to finish third in that event of six competitors.

 

MIAA Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week

Connor Robertson, Albion
Sophomore
Zeeland, Mich.

Connor Robertson turned in top MIAA times in the 200 back (1:52.25) and 200 IM (1:53.86) at the Gail Moll Pebworth Invitational Nov. 22-24. Robertson's swim in the 200 back was the first of the sophomore's collegiate career and good for a third-place finish. Robertson also finished fifth in the 100 breast (57.70) for a PR.

MIAA Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week

Samantha Swingewood, Albion
Sophomore
Carmel, Ind.

Samantha Swingewood broke the Albion school record in the 200 fly with a first-place finish in 2:06.65 at the Gail Moll Pebworth Invitational Nov. 22-24. Swingewood's time in the 200 fly ranks 11th nationally and set an event record. Swingewood placed fifth in the 400 IM (4:38.00), a time that ranks 24th in NCAA Division III and first among MIAA swimmers.
