The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has announced the student-athletes selected as Athletes of the Week, for the week of competition ending on February 24, 2019.
The MIAA Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by coaches following one week of competition, and selected by a panel of MIAA Sports Information Directors, including the MIAA Director of Media Relations.
This week's winners are listed below with their respective achievements during last week's competition.
Jamezell Davis, Jr., Albion
Sophomore, Guard
Ypsilanti, Mich.
Davis scored a game-high 31 points, including the game-winning near-half court three-pointer, in Albion's 87-85 win over Olivet Feb. 22 in the MIAA Men's Basketball Tournament semifinals. Davis shot 9-of-13 from the field, 5-of-8 from three-point range, and 8-of-9 at the line while adding five assists, three rebounds, and two steals. in the MIAA Tournament final Feb. 23, Davis scored eight of his 11 points in the game's final 3:25, including Albion's final four points, in the Britons' 76-73 win over Trine. Davis added four assists and three rebounds in the title game.
Brandi Dawson, Trine

Dawson averaged 19.5 points and 5.0 rebounds in two Trine wins on the way to the Thunder's 2019 MIAA Women's Basketball Tournament title. In the championship game against nationally-ranked Hope Feb. 23, Dawson scored 14 points to go with seven rebounds, two steals, one block and one assist in the double-overtime contest. Dawson tallied 25 points in Trine's semifinal win over Alma Feb. 22, shooting a blistering 10-of-13 from the field and 5-of-5 from the line. Dawson added three rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
Maxwell Leventis, Adrian

Howell, Mich.
Leventis gathered 18 ground balls, which is second-best in Adrian lacrosse history, thanks to a 23-of-30 performance on the faceoff in Adrian's season opener against Wabash Feb. 23. Leventis' face-off total also ranks second in Bulldogs history.
Trevor Bailey, Alma
Junior, Midfield
Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.
Bailey posted seven points in Albion's 16-15 win over Benedicitine Feb. 23, including scoring the game-winning goal with nine seconds remaining. Bailey finished with five goals and two assists.
Allie Ray, Alma
Junior, Goalie
Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.
Ray had 17 saves and a 63.0 save percentage in a close 10-7 setback for Alma to Earlham Feb. 22 in the Scots' season opener. Ray, who also had a game-high five ground balls, had six saves on free position shots.
Carly Pieri, Hope
Sophomore, Midfield
Alto, Mich.
Pieri ignited Hope's offense in their 21-12 win at Cleary Feb. 22, with four goals in the season-opening win. Pieri had two goals during a key run in the second half for Hope and added five draw controls, six ground balls, and a caused turnover.
Alyssa Gulli, Saint Mary's

Warrenville, Ill.
Gulli was 4-0 last week in two contests for the Belles, winning twice at No. 3 doubles and No. 5 singles. Against Spring Arbor, Gulli cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles and was part of an 8-1 victory at No. 3 doubles. Then, against Aquinas Gulli was a 1-6, 6-1, 10-7 winner in singles play after scoring an 8-6 victory in doubles for two of Saint Mary's four team points.
