2019-20 MIAA Commissioner's Cup Standings Through Winter Competition

FREELAND, Mich. -- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) will not have a 2019-20 Commissioner's Cup winner due to COVID-19 and the cancellation of spring sports. Hope College led the conference following the winter season with 108.5 points.

The Hope women's indoor track and field squad claimed the 2020 MIAA Championship title, while women's basketball earned the top spot in regular-season competition. In addition, a second-place finish by women's swimming and diving and third place finishes for both men's swimming and diving and men's indoor track and field, helped Hope tally a total of 44 points for the winter season. Hope led in the fall standings with 64.5 points, and previously captured the 2018-19 MIAA Commissioner's Cup for the first time in five years.

Calvin was next in the running with a total of 94 points. The Calvin women contributed nine points after winning the MIAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Calvin was the regular-season runner-up in men's basketball. They also placed second at both the MIAA Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships and the MIAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships.

Trine was slated third with 85 points after two seasons of competition. The Thunder claimed the MIAA Championship title for men's indoor track and field, while the women placed third. Trine was the runner-up in the women's basketball regular-season.

Albion was next in the standings with 83.5 points. The Britons secured the regular-season title in men's basketball and they also notched a victory at the MIAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships. Albion was the runner-up at the MIAA Women's Track and Field Championships and placed third in both the women's basketball regular-season and at the MIAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships.

Alma (70.5 points), Adrian (62.5 points), Olivet (56.5 points) and Kalamazoo (50 points) rounded out the eight schools that were eligible for the Commissioner's Cup.

The MIAA Commissioner's Cup accolade is typically based on the cumulative performance of each member school in the league's 23 sports (11 in women's sports and 12 in men's sports); each school counts its top eight finishes by gender.
