FREELAND, Mich. - In the winter update of the 2017-18 MIAA Commissioner's Cup competition, Hope utilized a strong performance by their women's athletics teams during the winter season to maintain their lead in an unofficial update of the year-long all-league sport award.
The Flying Dutch finished first in indoor track and field, tied for first in women's basketball, and second in swimming and diving to add 25.5 points to their total. On the men's side, both Hope and Calvin earned 22.5 points in three winter sports.
The winter update is an unofficial look at MIAA Commissioner's Cup standings. The award is based on the cumulative performance of each member school in the league's 22 sports, 11 per gender; each school counts its top eight finishes by gender. The winter update includes each team's MIAA finish in seven men's and seven women's sports.
Eight sports - four men's and four women's - remain for the spring competition season.
