Hope Claims Fourth-Consecutive MIAA Commissioner's Cup

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. -- In the final update of this year's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Commissioner's Cup standings, Hope College claims the award for the 2023-24 academic year thanks to nine outright regular-season championships and one co-championship.

Hope totaled 144.5 points to earn the program's 40th overall MIAA Commissioner's Cup.

The Flying Dutch additionally claimed the Women's All-Sport Championship title for the seventeenth time in school history with 79.5 points.  The women earned the regular-season titles in volleyball, basketball, swimming and diving, indoor track and field, lacrosse, tennis, and outdoor track and field.  Hope also shared the championship title in cross country.  On the men's side, Hope concluded the All-Sport standings in third place with 65 points.  The Flying Dutchmen won the MIAA Championship titles in both lacrosse and golf.  Overall, Hope finished in the top three for every sport that they sponsor except two.

Calvin University won the Men's All-Sport Championship with a total of 70.5 points.  The men claimed the MIAA Championship titles in cross country, soccer, swimming and diving, while clinching a share of the basketball and tennis trophy.  This is the first time since 2018-19 that the Knights earned the Men's All Sport crown and the ninth time in school history.  On the women's side, Calvin is the runner-up with 70 points after winning the regular-season championship in soccer and a share of the cross country title.

The Knights and Trine University rounded out the top three once again with 140.5 points and 129 points, respectively.  Calvin amassed four championship titles and three co-championship titles during the 2023-24 academic year, while Trine was the outright champion in three sports and shared both the men's basketball and the men's tennis crowns.

The MIAA Commissioner’s Cup award is based on the cumulative performance of each member school in eighteen of the league's sports for men and women.
