Women’s tennis team slips past Indiana-South Bend, 4-3

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Olivet College women's tennis team defeated Indiana University-South Bend, 4-3, this afternoon at the South Bend Racquet Club.

Records: Olivet 4-4 overall, Indiana-South Bend 6-3 overall
- Indiana-South Bend is an NAIA institution, so its association scoring rules were used. One of those rules is the school which wins two of three doubles flights receives one team point.
- The Titans had only five players available. Indiana-South Bend won the first two doubles to gain the team point and early 1-0 edge.
- The Comets earned the default win at No. 6 singles to even the score. Olivet then picked-up wins at No. 5, No. 1 and No. 2 singles to clinch the match.
- Senior Rose Kemmerling was credited with the default at No. 6 singles.
- Sophomore Emily Foulk won a hard-fought match at No. 5 singles. She lost the first set 6-2 but bounced back to win the second set 6-1. Foulk won the match-tiebreaker, 10-6.
- Sophomore Desiree Luque Pradas coasted to a 6-1, 6-2 straight set win at No. 1 singles.
- Senior Miranda Pier had the match-clinching win at No. 2 singles. She earned a 6-1, 6-4 victory.
- Olivet welcomes Concordia University-Ann Arbor next Friday, Feb. 28, to the Minges Creek Athletic Club in Battle Creek for a non-conference match. First serve is at 2 p.m.
