Sophomore Patrick Gillen (Jensen Beach, Fla./ Jensen Beach) played a pivotal role in leading Calvin to a 2-1 record last week in the Knights' series against Hope. In the Knights' first game of the week, during the fourth inning, a three-run Gillen home run was a game-changer, helping the team secure the first win of the series. In three games played, Gillen's contributions were significant, collecting six RBIs, including two doubles, and with 15 at-bats, Gillen had eight hits, including a home run. Gillen had an impressive .533 batting average, a .867 slugging percentage, and a .563 on-base percentage. Gillen's 11 home runs are just one shy of Calvin's single-season record, and his 44 RBI are tied for third-most in a single season. Gillen's outstanding performance has earned him the top spot in the conference for home runs (11) and batting average (.415).
