Albion's Vince Garners USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week Accolades

Cassie Vince, a senior on the Albion women's cross country team, received national honors Monday (Sept. 10) when she was named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Athlete of the Week. Vince becomes the first athlete from Albion to be named National Athlete of the Week in cross country.

Vince rolled to a 21-second victory against athletes from three NCAA Division I programs. It was the second individual win of her collegiate career on the grass circuit. Named the MIAA Athlete of the Week on Monday, Vince crossed the line in the 5K race in 17:46.1. It was the fastest winning time on that course since 2009 and eighth fastest performance ever for the 32nd annual running of the meet.

Vince's honor is the first National Athlete of the Week accolade for an MIAA women's cross country runner since Hope's Erin Herrmann was selected on Sept. 12, 2016.
