• Alma, Hope, Kalamazoo and Saint Mary's were part of the 23-team field at Calvin's Knight Invitational Sept. 9. Calvin was the top MIAA team with a fourth-place finish. Alma placed eighth, while Hope's squad finished 14th. Saint Mary's combined for a 17th place effort, and Kalamazoo finished 21st overall.

Winning the event was Calvin's Katie Diekema (Jr., Kenmore, Wash.), crossing the 5K course in 17:46 for an eight-second win.

• Hope and Trine were at the 18-team Ohio Wesleyan Invitational Sept. 9, with the Flying Dutch claiming first place overall; Trine placed seventh. Hope's Emily Hamilton (Jr., Naperville, Ill.) placed fourth with a time of 22:34.7 on the 6K course. Trine's Kyla Binfet (Sr., Branson, Mont.) covered the course in 22:50.7 to tie the Thunder's program record for a 6K event.

• Earning MIAA Athlete of the Week honors for Sept. 11 was:

In the Sept. 12 release of the USTFCCCA regional rankings, Calvin and Hope are 1-2, respectively, in the Great Lakes Region while Albion is in at ninth.
