Hope's Herrmann, Calvin's Diemer Earn Elite Region Honors from USTFCCCA

On Tuesday, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced their Region Athletes of the Year and Coaches of the Year for NCAA Division III.

Hope's Erin Herrmann, a senior from Wheaton, Ill., was named the Great Lakes Region Women Athlete of the Year after winning the Great Lakes Regional title with her time of 21:10.9. Also the MIAA individual champion, Herrmann was a four-time MIAA Athlete of the Week this season and was the national athlete of the week Sept. 12.

Calvin men's and women's cross country coach Brian Diemer was named the Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year for both teams after leading his charges to Great Lakes Regional titles Nov. 12. Since 1993, Diemer has been named the Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year 18 times: 11 times for the men, seven for the women.
