Calvin, Hope to Compete in NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship

The Calvin College volleyball team will serve as a Regional host for the 2018 NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship Nov. 8-10, hosting not only fellow Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Conference representative Hope but six other teams in the first three rounds of the national tournament. Calvin will take on Greenville (Ill.) in the First Round, while Hope will challenge DePauw.

The 64-team field will compete in Regional play Nov. 9-11 at eight host institutions; the eight teams that advance out of Regionals will be re-seeded and travel to Pittsburgh, Pa., for Quarterfinal, Semifinal, and Championship rounds Nov 15-17 at the A.J. Palumbo Center.

Calvin (28-1), the 2016 NCAA National Champions, are making their 13th consecutive NCAA Championship appearance. The Knights were both the MIAA regular season and tournament champions; their lone setback this season came to NAA Championship participant Thomas More Oct. 13.

Hope (25-7) earned an at-large berth after missing the 2017 NCAA Championship field. The Flying Dutch were the 2014 NCAA National Champions and are making their 15th appearance in the national championship.

An MIAA team has participated in the NCAA Semifinals or Championship game in seven of the last nine years, including the last two seasons.
