Calvin Defeats Hope, 3-1, for MIAA Volleyball Tournament Championship

The Calvin College volleyball team hit a blistering .319 over four sets on the way to a 3-1 victory over Hope Saturday evening in the 2018 MIAA Volleyball Tournament Championship at Calvin's Van Noord Arena. The win grants Calvin an automatic berth into the 2018 NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship.

Calvin (28-1) was fueled from a 19-kill effort from Anna Kamp, while Sarah DeVries registered a triple-double with 13 kills, 26 assists, and 11 digs while adding a block and a service ace.

The Knights were convincing in their winning sets, starting with a 25-16 first-set win. After Hope took set two, 25-20, Calvin regained their momentum to win sets three and four, 25-16 and 25-13.

Hope (25-7) was led by three players with eight kills: Ryann Stutz, Katie Rietberg, and McKenna Otto.

The 2018 NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship field will be announced Monday, Nov. 5 on ncaa.com.
