Three Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association volleyball student-athletes were named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Division III Volleyball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), on Thursday for their academic and athletic success.
Calvin AVCA All-Americans Sarah DeVries (Jr., MH/S, Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Anna Kamp (Sr., OH, Orland Park, Ill.) were voted to the All-District® 6 First Team. Saint Mary's Audrey Shannon (Sr., L, New Albany, Ind.) voted to the All-District® 7 Second Team.
As First-Team All-District selections, DeVries and Kamp are now eligible for Google Cloud Academic All-America® honors.
DeVries, who was named the 2018 AVCA Division III Player of the Year on Wednesday, has a 3.85 grade-point average in Nursing. DeVries is a two-time AVCA All-American.
Kamp is working towards a degree in Business Administration / Human Resources and has a 3.76 GPA. On the court, Kamp is a three-time First-Team All-American by the AVCA and was the 2017 National Player of the Year.
Shannon has achieved a 3.96 GPA in Statistics and Actuarial Mathematics. In 2018, Shannon was a Second-Team All-MIAA selection for the second consecutive season; Shannon set an MIAA record with 6.63 digs per set in conference contests.
CoSIDA's NCAA Division III District 6 includes Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin; District 7 covers Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. Members of CoSIDA from the district vote on Academic All-District® honors. Student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 GPA on a 4.0 scale and must have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution to be eligible.
