Sarah DeVries, a junior middle blocker/setter for the Calvin volleyball team, garnered national honors Tuesday as the versatile player was named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III Player of the Week, the national coaching organization announced.

In two five-set wins over AVCA Top 20 programs last week, DeVries averaged 3.2 kills, 4.7 assists, 1.6 digs, and 1.2 blocks per set to pace the Knights. Against No. 13 Hope Sept. 22, DeVries had 16 kills, 26 assists, seven digs, and six blocks in Calvin's 3-2 home win. Earlier in the week against No. 19 Chicago Sept. 18, DeVries had 16 kills, 21 assists, nine digs, and six blocks.

On Monday, DeVries was named the MIAA Volleyball Player of the Week for the second time this season.

 This is the second time DeVries has received the national award in her career, as she was previously so honored on September 26 last fall. It marks the ninth national weekly award from the AVCA in Calvin history.
