• Albion notched a key 3-2 win over Olivet Oct. 11 to remain in third place in the MIAA standings. Trailing 2-1 after three sets, the Britons notched a 25-17 win in the fourth before a convincing 15-4 fifth-set score.
• Alma defeated Kalamazoo 3-1 Oct. 11 in the lone contest for the Scots on the week. Kara Muxlow (Sr., MB, Brown City, Mich.) led Alma with 10 kills.
• #6 Calvin defeated Saint Mary's 3-0 to start the week and then added four non-conference wins on the weekend at their own Midwest Invitational Oct. 13-14. The Knights tallied a key 3-2 win over #14 Millikin Oct. 13, notching a 25-16 fourth-set win before a 15-9 tally in the decisive fifth set.
• Hope defeated Adrian Oct. 11, 3-1, and went 2-2 against a challenging field at the Midwest Tournament. The Flying Dutch earned 3-0 wins over Ohio Wesleyan and Kean.
• Earning MIAA Athlete of the Week honors for Oct. 16 were:
- Player: Tessa Van Laare, Calvin
- Specialist: Jenna Lodewyk, Calvin
• In the Oct. 10 release of the AVCA Division III poll, Calvin stayed at #6 nationally, while Hope is now receiving votes.
