Around the MIAA

Adrian

Adrian will begin the indoor track and field season Saturday, Jan. 19 at the Trine Invitational.


Albion

Layla Wilks (Chicago, Ill./Johnson College Prep) broke her school record in the 60-meter dash at Tiffin, setting a time of 7.86 seconds in her semifinal heat. She also took first place in the 200 meters in 25.97…Cassie Vince (Amherst, Ohio/Steele) fresh off an All-America performance in cross country, started the track season with a school record performance in the 800 meters (2:18.61).

Alma

Alma will take part in the SVSU Holiday Classic Dec. 7 for their first competition of the season.


Calvin

Calvin will start the 2018-19 indoor track and field season Dec. 7-8 at Grand Valley State.


Hope

Hope will head to the GVSU Holiday Open Dec. 7 to start the season.


Olivet

Olivet will wait until the turn of the calendar year to begin the season, participating in the Jack Skoog Open Jan. 11 at Central Michigan.


Trine

Freshman Te'Shiya McCarter set a school record in the indoor 60-meter dash to lead the Trine University women's track & field team at the unscored University of Indianapolis Opener in Indianapolis, Ind. McCarter recorded her school-record time in the finals of the 60-meter dash and crossed the finish line in 8.05 seconds to place eighth overall.  McCarter's time was one one-hundreth of a second faster than the previous mark of 8.06 seconds that was set last year by Hope Scholma.
